Rangeley’s Annual Town Meeting will be at the Rangeley Town Office on Tuesday, June 8, 2021. Voting by written ballot will take place between 8:00am and 8:00pm. A copy of the Annual Town report is currently available at the Town Office and should prove helpful for informed voting.
This year’s Annual Town Report is dedicated to Alice (Quimby) Smith. Alice was in attendance at the May 17, 2021 Board of Selectmen’s meeting. A Selectmen signed copy of the 2020 Town Report was presented to her in addition to the sincere “Thank You’s” for her many years of dedicated civil service to the Town of Rangeley. ....

MEDFIELD – Ways the town could save on electricity costs, as well as how best to commit to a net zero plan, topped Board of Selectmen’s discussions at its April 20 meeting.
Articles 21 and 22 of this spring’s Town Meeting Warrant are sponsored by the Medfield Energy Committee; Article 21 asks the town to join a Community Choice Aggregation Program. Supporters of this article tout the potential for cost savings, and available options to customers to purchase energy from renewable sources.
Residents would have an opt-out option.
Article 22 asks the town to create a plan that would eliminate or offset all greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. If approved, the town would begin to develop a net zero action plan by March 2022. ....

Needham will conduct a Town Meeting outdoors for the third time since the pandemic forced cities and towns to find alternative ways to conduct the regular business of government.
In the parking lot of Memorial Field on Saturday, May 1, at 1 p.m., Town Moderator Michael Fee will preside over discussions and voting stemming from a special Town Meeting warrant including 50 proposed articles. Deliberations will continue Sunday at 1 p.m. if needed.
On Monday, Town Meeting members will convene for the annual Town Meeting at 5 p.m. to review an eight-article warrant containing items required to be in the annual Town Meeting Warrant by law, including proposed zoning changes. ....

Town clerk files complaint over attempts to make her position appointed

HANOVER – Town residents will likely be asked to turn the elected town clerk position into one appointed by the board of selectmen, and the woman whose job is being threatened is challenging the selectmen s vote to add the proposal to the town meeting warrant.
Town Clerk Cathy Harder-Bernier filed an Open Meeting Law complaint against the town Tuesday, a week after the board of selectmen voted to add the article to the town meeting warrant.
During the April 5 meeting, Selectman John Tuzik moved to add a prepared article onto the warrant. After he read the title of the article, the board voted unanimously and without discussion to include it on the town meeting warrant. ....

Those involved in the Brimfield Flea Market and the town’s Board of Selectmen have been clashing over proposed bylaw changes for months, which include specific fines ranging from $25 to $200 and possibly causing field operators to lose their license.
“Can you throw any more bull at a bunch of small business owners after the year that we’ve had?” Cara Marcoux, owner of Juniper Vintage, previously told MassLive. “Maybe wait a little bit longer. Maybe don’t try to push anything through without input because we need someone to throw us a bone.” ....
