BESSEMER, Ala. (WBRC) - The Food and Drug Administration has granted emergency use authorization of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine for children 12 to 15 years old.
And some local school districts are welcoming the news.
Bessemer City School’s superintendent said the FDA’s announcement is really big news for her school district and others, saying it puts them one step closer to getting back normal and feeling safer at school.

THOMASTON, Ga. (WALB) - The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) made a decision Tuesday afternoon regarding Valdosta High School’s appeal of the
GHSA denied the Wildcats’ appeal, and all penalties imposed against the football program will stand.

The Marion City Police Department’s MPACT Program’s mission is to positively unite Police and citizens. That’s also the goal of the Starfish organization’s Books and Badges Program, which is kicking off in the Marion City Schools.
Tuesday morning Starfish delivered 600 books that Marion City Police Officers will be reading and distributing to Marion City School’s and St. Mary’s Elementary students in the coming months. Starfish was the idea of Columbus resident Nicole Banks. She wanted to get books in the hands of youth, and thought it’d be a great partnership if the books could be read and left with kids aged 6 to 11 by police officers. So, she reached out to Columbus Police Deputy Chief Becker who fast-tracked the program that began in 2018. ....

For over a year now, many local businesses have been pushing hard to stay in business. As the COVID-19 pandemic claimed lives and caused panic, some small businesses struggled to stay afloat. In fact, many businesses were forced to reinvent themselves in order to stay relevant and tend to the needs of customers.
Alabama’s mask mandate will officially expire on Friday, April 9, 2021. Although some municipalities and businesses will still require masks, the expiration of the mandate provides a sense of freedom for many Alabamians.
Some local chambers of commerce have planned their first luncheons in over a year. June Mathews, the director of the Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce said she is excited that the chamber will be able to get ....
