BATON ROUGE - Amid ongoing COVID-19 concerns, the 2021 Spanish Town Mardi Gras parade won t roll through downtown on Feb. 13, after the city-parish did not approve plans, board president Robert King tells WBRZ.
While officials hope to reschedule the 41st installment of the pink parade later in the year, it s unclear when that would be.
As other Baton Rouge Mardi Gras krewes, like Orion and Southdowns, previously nixed plans for their 2021 parades, Spanish Town officials had been holding out hope. ....

BATON ROUGE - Spanish Town Mardi Gras officials are still holding out hope that riders will load onto floats and revelers will line up on sidewalks come Feb. 13.

BATON ROUGE - As other krewes have done away with 2021 Mardi Gras celebrations, Spanish Town is still working toward a solution to let the good times roll.
Spanish Town Mardi Gras board President Robert King requested a meeting with the mayor s office to discuss Mardi Gras plans in late November.
After a conference call among the mayor and krewes, the mayor s office requested a written proposal of Spanish Town s alternative plans.
King reiterated the krewe s original proposal, which included a longer route, fewer floats, and requiring riders to wear both masks and gloves. ....
