New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: Mixing and matching COVID-19 vaccines from different manufacturers is a dangerous trend and could lead to chaos as there is limited data on it on the practice, World Health Organisation (WHO) chief scientist Soumya Swaminathan said. Addressing a COVID-19 media briefing, Swaminathan said, Really want to caution folks, because there is a tendency now for people in countries which enough availability of vaccines to voluntarily start thinking . Kalaburagi, May 12 : With the Karnataka government looking for new places to set up makeshift Covid care facilities, Mines and Geology minister Murugesh Nirani on Wednesday directed the authorities to refurbish an abandoned old hospital building of the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC).
Nirani s directions came after his meeting with Kalaburagi district officers, in which they brought to his notice that the ESI hospital in Laxmiganj area of Shahabad was lying idle and can be easily converted into a 30-room Covid care centre. ....

At least 24 COVID-19 patients on ventilator support suffocated to death on Wednesday when their oxygen supply stopped suddenly because of a malfunction in the main storage at a civic-run hospital in Nashik in Maharashtra, officials said.
The government will probe if the tragedy at the Dr Zakir Husain Hospital was due to negligence, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said.
A private company looked after the tank maintenance at the hospital, District Collector Suraj Mandhare said, adding technicians closed the tank valve preventing more deaths. ....

At least 22 patients died on Wednesday due to the interrupted supply of oxygen at a civic hospital for COVID-19 patients in Nashik in Maharashtra following the leakage from an oxygen storage plant, district collector Suraj Mandhare said.
Oxygen tanker leaked while tankers were being filled at Dr Zakir Hussain Hospital in Nashik, Maharashtra. Operation to contain the leak is underway.
