Ground has officially broken on the 40
th Ave. partial interchange in Airdrie after a ceremony including City council, administration and MLAs Angela Pitt and Ric McIver commemorated the start of development on Wednesday, Apr. 28.
The $83-million project will see a new overpass and three new bridges on the south end of Airdrie, crossing over Main Street, the CP Rail, Nose Creek and the QEII Highway, and connecting 40
th Ave. to Sharp Hill Way SE.

Edmonton city councillors give nod to Westmount permanent supportive housing

Five new permanent supportive-housing projects are getting shovel-ready in five Edmonton neighbourhoods this year, despite some pushback from residents to the most recent proposal.
Monday, city council s executive committee approved administration s request to add a fifth site in Westmount to four sites already approved for development.
The Westmount site at 110th Avenue and 130th Street joins sites in McArthur Industrial, King Edward Park, Terrace Heights and Inglewood, approved last spring.
The agreement would see the city sell the land for $1 to housing agency Homeward Trust Foundation, which would oversee the development of up to 60 units in a low-rise apartment complex. ....

Proposed waterfront district, municipal stimulus projects highlighted in 2021 State of the City

Upcoming development projects rose to the forefront, as Mayor Ted Clugston delivered the 2021 State of the City.
One of the main highlights was the proposed waterfront development district which is intended to capitalize on 1 km of riverfront land stretching from the Library to Athletic Park. A first step vision of the proposal was displayed during the State of the City address. An enhanced riverside walkway, a natural playground, and market commons that could provide up to a dozen commercial opportunities were among some of the features in the proposal.
The proposal also features a community square that could host a number of outdoor events, from outdoor concerts to fitness activities. Space is also proposed for food trucks and outdoor markets. ....
