Man pleads guilty in Elkton hotel prostitution case


BALTIMORE - A Cecil County man who ran a prostitution business an Elkton hotel for approximately five years is facing a sentence of 10 years to life in prison after pleading guilty to a single charge relating to juveniles he sex trafficked during the operation, according to the U.S. Attorney s Office.
The defendant, Xavier Lee, 41, of Elkton, pleaded guilty to sex trafficking of a minor during a U.S. District Court proceeding on Thursday, reported Marcia Murphy, a USAO spokeswoman. The 10-year penalty at the low-end of that sentencing spectrum is mandatory.
U.S. District Court Judge Ellen L. Hollander accepted Lee s guilty plea and scheduled his sentencing for April 30. ....

Texas tax preparer pleads guilty to defrauding the Internal Revenue Service


Little Rock   A Dallas area tax preparer pleaded guilty to conspiracy to defraud the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) after his participation in a scheme that rerouted more than $11.5 million that was intended to benefit farmers who had been discriminated against. Jerry Green pleaded guilty today before Chief United States District Judge D. Price Marshall, who will sentence Green at a later date.
Today, Mr. Green admitted to using his tax return business, Jiffy Tax, to make a fast buck with a scheme where he conspired with others to prepare false client tax returns, said IRS-Criminal Investigation Dallas Field Office Acting Special Agent in Charge Mark Pearson.
