The New Mexico State Police is investigating an officer involved shooting off south Los Lentes Road involving a Valencia County Sheriff’s deputy.
Valencia County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Joseph Rowland said deputies responded to a call for a disturbance on Plata shortly before 7 a.m. today, Saturday, March 6. Plata is a short residential road that runs east off Los Lentes Road, north of the Mid Valley Airpark.
Rowland said during the course of the investigation, shots were fired and at least one VCSO deputy discharged their weapon.
“There have been no previous officer involved shootings with this officer,” he said. “The resident who was struck by gun fire was transported to an Albuquerque for treatment.” ....
