The Miracle Angels of Israel United Methodist Church in Lewes presented Beebe Medical Foundation with a gift of $5,495 to support Beebe Healthcare’s oncology services patient special needs fund.
The group’s last annual gift was made in February 2020, and then the COVID-19 pandemic hit.
Under the leadership of the Rev. Marjorie Belmont-Burns, the Miracle Angels have always raised funds through a multitude of community activities including yard sales, bake sales and special events. Beloved kindergarten teacher dies after contracting COVID, South Carolina school says

Jan. 20 A South Carolina woman retired from a decades-long teaching career before her passion for helping children learn brought her back to the classroom.
She loved helping people so I think that s why she was such a good teacher and friend, said Melissa Nettles, according to WMBF. She would do whatever it took to help a child learn or feel included.
Nettles sister-in-law, Marlene Evans, was almost three years into her new teaching job when she contracted COVID-19 in December. She died on Monday at age 59, according to her obituary and Virtus Academy. ....

FLORENCE, S.C. (WMBF) â A Florence school is mourning the loss of one of its teachers due to complications from COVID-19.
On Jan. 18, Marlene Evans passed away after battling the disease since early December, according to a statement from the board of directors for the Virtus Academy in Florence.
âIt is with heavy hearts that the Virtus Academy Board of Directors must inform the Virtus family that we have lost one of our own,â the board said. ....

CUMBERLAND Community Outreach Ministry Eastside (COME) hopes grocery shoppers will donate at the store to help the food pantry the ministry operates out of Cumberland First Baptist Church.
Through Meijer’s holiday Simply Give campaign, shoppers can pick up a gift card near the checkout, give it to the cashier, and indicate how much they wish to donate. Donations at the Cumberland Meijer (11315 East Washington St.) will support the COME pantry. The program runs through Saturday, Jan. 2.
Eight member churches in Hancock and Marion counties form COME and also support the pantry. ....
