FLORENCE, Ala. (WAFF) - The Salvation Armyâs red kettle donations are down across the nation, but as the campaign wrapped up, that wasnât the case in the Shoals.
The Salvation Army of the Shoalsâ mission this year is to ârescue Christmasâ And they did just that through the Red Kettle Campaign!
The campaign has exceeded its $150,000 goal.
The campaign had two matches, one from an anonymous donor and one from the Salvation Army executive board.
They also had a virtual kettle which which raised closed to $14,000. ....

The yellow fluid in the blood which contains infection â fighting antibodies, called plasma, from persons who have had and have recovered from COVID-19 has been proven to reduce death rates in hospitalized patients by about 40%. In August, the FDA authorized the use of plasma from person who have recovered from COVID-19 only for those hospitalized with the disease, although manufactured antibody drugs, such as Regeneron and one from Eli Lilly can be given to persons with COVID who are not yet hospitalized to try to prevent hospitalization.
Persons who wish to, can donate many times at frequent intervals without harm to themselves, as the body makes more antibodies and plasma for the person donating. In plasma donation, a donor can ask for a procedure in which plasma is removed, but the blood cells of the donor are returned to the donor, making the persons not anemic from frequent plasma donation. UI seed potato germplasm lab gets ready to move

The University of Idaho seed potato germplasm program plans to move into a new laboratory building by mid-July.
Construction of the more than 9,000-square-foot building began Aug. 24 on Perimeter Drive on the Moscow campus. Ginno Construction of Coeur dâAlene and Castellaw Kom Architects of Lewiston are among those working on the $5.5 million project.
The program now occupies a corner of the Agricultural Science Building.
The new facility will have âseparate space and more room, so we can store potato germplasm more safely, and also produce more plants,â program director Jenny Durrin said.
It will provide space to start a larger germplasm-storage program and to work toward increasing sales, she said, adding that it will have classroom and other space. ....
