Scottish woman whose husband died of brain tumour says snoring was his only symptom


He was finally diagnosed with grade three anaplastic astrocytoma after a biopsy in October.

“Before we got the diagnosis, I’d Googled a lot to find out about the different types of brain tumours,” said Ms Mackay.
I immediately knew this wasn’t good news, but that was confirmed when we were told the prognosis was a devastatingly short three to 12 months. Due to its location on the brain, Michael’s tumour was inoperable.
“Michael was obviously distraught, but somehow he stayed strong, accepted his diagnosis and managed to sail through his first two rounds of chemo. ....

Michael Mackay, who worked for Highland Council, was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour after his wife Trish noticed he was snoring louder than usual.
A HIGHLANDS woman has spoken of her devastation after losing her husband to a brain tumour, just five months after his unusually loud snoring first alerted her that something was wrong.
Trish Mackay, from Thurso in Caithness, was shocked when husband Michael was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour in October 2020.
He passed away in March this year.
Mrs Mackay, 50, said: “I’d got up early one Sunday morning and couldn’t believe how loud Michael’s snoring was. He was upstairs in bed and I was downstairs. ....

A DAD has died after his loud snoring turned out to be a symptom of a brain tumour.
Michael Mackay would snore so loud that his loving wife Trish would be able to hear him from downstairs.

When Trish heard his snoring she went up to see him and realised he was having a seizure and from then the family spent months waiting for tests to be carried out.
