The movie co-stars Aidan Gillen, Nicolas Hoult, Jon Berenthal, Tyler Perry, Medina Senghore, and Jake Weber, and comes from the folks behind Sicario and Hell Or High Water. In the run-up to the movie s release, JOE got exclusive Irish access to Angelina and Medina Senghore to chat about their new movie, which really put the two actresses through the ringer, physically. Those Who Wish Me Dead is a very physical thriller, full of bone-crunching stunts, and the behind-the-scenes footage shows that these ladies mostly did it all for real. Availability Select theaters and HBO Max May 14 Jolie’s character, Hannah Faber, is a smokejumper a particularly hazardous field of firefighting that entails parachuting directly into burning foliage. A figurative blaze consumes her: Relegated to a lookout tower in the aftermath of a containment operation gone wrong, Hannah surveys the Montana landscape with simmering guilt, unable to get over three kids she couldn’t rescue from the flames. With his young son, Connor (Finn Little), in tow, Owen flees for Hannah’s literal neck of the woods, seeking protection from the local sheriff (Jon Bernthal) our heroine used to date. ....
17 May 2021 Taylor Sheridan has been one of the most reliable writers of thrillers for some time now, punching out the likes of Sicario, its sequel, and Hell Or High Water. Lean, muscular thrillers that could have ported in from the ’70s, populated with economically sketched characters and actions that speak louder than words. The excellent Wind River saw him transfer that particular set of skills to the director’s chair, and as if to prove it’s no fluke, along comes Those Who Wish Me Dead (or ‘Fire Forest’, if you want to continue the pattern established by that previous film), an old-school humans versus the elements gripper crossed with a brutal tale of hitmen out for blood. Almost unbearably tense at times, it’s the kind of film best seen on a big screen, surrounded by people (full disclosure: Empire watched the film on a small screen). In that regard, it’s timed its run to perfection. ....
