A SEEMINGLY endless battle to restart breast services at West Cumberland Hospital is set to come to an end, as Cumbria’s NHS trust announces the clinic’s return.
Breast care clinicians at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Trust (NCIC) have confirmed the one-stop breast clinic at the Whitehaven hospital will restart next month.
From January 11, a “full range of services” will return, with the clinic offering 15 slots every fortnight, aiming to add further slots in the future.
The trust will also continue to run pilot clinics for the lower-risk referrals that do not require a radiologist, which have been in place throughout November and December. ....
