The cute times rolled outside of Country Place Senior Living in Fairhope last week, when a nearby daycare put on their own Mardi Gras parade.
Kids from nearby Stars Early Learning Academy paraded around outside of the facility wearing decorated masks and outfits. The event took place on Feb. 11, just a few days shy of Fat Tuesday.

30 Containers for Covered Porches That Will Thrive in the Shade
Some containers have all the sun. These shady planters, though, are having plenty of fun sans sun. We’ve gathered all of our favorite shade-loving containers to inspire your planting this season. If you have a shady yard or want to perk up a shaded spot in your home, at your front door, on your porch, or around your patio, put together a pretty shade-loving container that’s also easy to care for. Plants like caladiums and creeping Jenny will thrive in the shade, and they’ll also add great color and movement to your planters. If you’re looking for the best plants for the shade and great flowers that thrive in shade, also reach for impatiens, coleus, sweet potato vines, mazus, vincas, torenias, violas, petunias, pansies, hellebores (Lenten roses), hostas, astilbes, and trilliums. They look great and will thrive in full to partial shade. Shade-loving flowers aren’t too hard to find. Ask around at your local garden store, and you’ll be able to locate the ingredients and put together any one of these shade-tolerant container ideas. Also, in regards to your container, don’t forget to think vertical. We love pots and planters, but a hanging basket is another great option, as is an elevated planter, which will make a statement and take advantage of any vertical space.

Coronavirus clusters at these 36 Kansas nursing homes fill most of KDHE outbreak list

Coronavirus clusters at these 36 Kansas nursing homes fill most of KDHE outbreak list
Jason Tidd, The Wichita Eagle
Jan. 13—Kansas public health officials on Wednesday reported another drop in the number of active COVID-19 outbreaks across the state.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment's weekly cluster update showed 341 active outbreaks, which was down by 32 since last week. Fewer nursing home clusters accounted for most of the decrease.
Clusters are generally defined as two or more cases of COVID-19 with a common place and time, but the state health agency only names locations with five or more cases within the current two-week period. Home-based daycares and private events are excluded due to privacy concerns.

Not a Cookie Drive event garners more than 700 items for Good Shepherd

COVID-19 wasn’t going to stop the Leavenworth County Youth Leaders this year.
In years past this group of Youth Leaders has baked and packaged cookies for the holiday season. In the current situation the world is in, the Youth Leaders needed to come up with something new to help out the community.
What better way to do that then have a “Not a Cookie Drive” event. On Dec. 12, 4-H Families could drive through and drop off canned vegetables, canned meat, canned fruit, toilet paper or any other items that they wanted to donate.
These Youth Leaders spread the word to their local 4-H Clubs in the Leavenworth County Area. When it was all collected and done, more than 700 items were received from six clubs: Reno Bobwhites, Glenwood, Basehor Rustlers, Happy Helpers, Bowling and Bell. These items were donated to the Good Shepherd Thrift Shop and Food Bank on Dec. 14.
