'Just hold on': Parents have a message for students who are struggling with pandemic


As he got older, Nicholas carried other weights — loneliness, isolation, depression.
The load became unbearable, and on Feb. 12, 15-year old Nicholas died by suicide.
He was a sophomore at Atkins High School who loved technology, anime, memes, staring at the stars and dousing ranch dressing on his food.
Most of all, Nicholas loved being with his friends, just goofing off.
But that sort of behavior, the favored past time of teenagers for generations, came to a dizzying and abrupt halt last year when the rapid spread of COVID-19 prompted Gov. Roy Cooper to shut down schools across the state.
Nicholas never adjusted to the sudden collapse of his social structure, his parents, Bob and Ana, said. ....

brycenor recently shared a trick that lets anyone with a pair of AirPods spy/hear other conversations in other rooms as long as they leave one of their AirPods in the room.
You can see the full video below for detailed instructions, but you essentially go to the Hearing settings on your iPhone and then add it to your Control Center where you can control the volume your AirPods are taking in from your surroundings. ....

The death of an Australian police officer caught in a deadly South Island avalanche has resulted in a raft of safety recommendations for other New Zealand mountaineers.
Nathan Deutschbein, a New South Wales police officer and father of two girls, died on November 29, 2018, when he was caught in an avalanche and became buried while descending the Eugenie Glacier in the Aoraki – Mt Cook National Park with a climbing companion.
