A church faces a race against time to finish repairs to a damaged ceiling before a colony of bats return in the spring.
Work started on the ceiling earlier this month but needs to be completed by April, when the colony of about 400 soprano pipistrelle bats return.

Builders reconstructing the new ceiling at the Grade 1 listed church, which was built in about 1160, discovered an active honey bee colony in a small area of the part of the roof.

A historic church at the heart of a village has been awarded a grant of over £16,000 to fund crucial repair work.
A part of the government's culture recovery fund will be used to carry out essential survey work at St Peter and St Paul's church in Tuttington near Aylsham, which has seen cracks and bulges in its masonry, roof and walls along with failing internal timberwork.
Tuttington parish councillor Janet Lodge, who has been involved in fundraising work at the church, said the work would allow them to begin planning and costing the repairs themselves.

Norfolk Churches Trust urges Rishi Sunak to keep VAT scheme

A 20-year tax “concession” to help meet repair costs of places of worship could be lost from next April, a leading Norfolk church conservation charity has warned.
Norfolk Churches Trust is urging the Chancellor Rishi Sunak to continue the successful VAT relief scheme (the Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme), which was introduced in 2001.
Scrapping the listed places of worship grant scheme could add at least £2.25m to the £11m cost of repairing 47 Norfolk churches identified as most at risk.
For many parishes across Norfolk, struggling to raise funds for essential repairs, a 20pc hike in costs could prove the final straw, according to the Norfolk Churches Trust (NCT).
