The warden of Northumberland County has issued a statement in response to Ontario’s decision to implement more measures due to the surge of COVID-19.
Premier Doug Ford declared a state of emergency and a stay-at-home order, during his update on Tuesday.
The stay-at-home order will be in effect as of January 14. Residents will be required to stay home and only venture out for essential trips like to the grocery store, to access health services, or if they are an essential worker that must head out.
The province will be restricting gatherings to a maximum of five people, and everyone is encouraged to wear a mask outside as well when physical distancing cannot be guaranteed. ....

County warden responds to stay at home order, issued by province

Restrictions will be increasing as of Thursday morning, in an effort to stop the escalating spread of COVID-19.
Northumberland County’s Emergency Control Group had a meeting on Tuesday, to review everything included in the new provincial orders and look over the impacts it may have on the county.
It was decided that a state of emergency would not be declared by the upper-tier as it was determined current processes already in place will protect staff and the public as they continue to deliver essential services.
County Warden Bob Crate, issued a statement on Tuesday night, encouraging residents to contact staff and public officials by phone or email even though the county building will remain open through the stay-at-home order. ....
