Since officially taking office on Nov. 20, new Northville Township Supervisor Mark Abbo has hit the ground running; well, at least as fast as COVID-19 restrictions will allow.
The Northville Republican soundly defeated incumbent and write-in candidate Robert Nix for the second time in three months. Abbo, who previously served three terms as supervisor from 2000-2012, also upended Nix in the Aug. 4 Republican primary (there were no Democratic candidates running for the position).
Abbo noted the transition in the township s top spot is going as smoothly as possible in the midst of a pandemic.
It s not going as quickly as I would have liked, given the COVID restrictions, but it is what it is, Abbo said. Ideally, I like to meet with people in-person because you can get a better sense of what s going on. It s easier to get more clarity when you re face-to-face with someone as opposed to talking on the phone.  ....
