Anyone attending PGSS this fall will be able to smell what some of their students are cooking.
At last night’s (Tuesday) School District 57 Board Meeting, a trio of new cooking courses was approved for the high school.
PGSS teacher and Red Seal Chef Erick Vilegenthart developed the courses.
Board Chair Trent Derrick told
MyPGNow.com what each course will entail.
“It is all about preparing kids if they want to enter Red Seal so it goes step by step from how to order, prep, and serve your food and how to follow up and clean up as well.” ....

Prince George District Teachers Association President Joanne Hapke believes a complete return to classes in September is realistic.
Hapke admitted while the majority of students are back in the classroom now, there are some who elected to learn from home this year due to the pandemic.
Hapke told
MyPGNow.com students learning from home has added to the stress and anxiety for teachers.
“Especially teachers who are work with transitioning students. That workload has made it really hard for teachers to feel confident in the work that they are sending home to the students, is it enough and are they understanding what is happening when they are not in-person learning.” ....

SD 57 issues statement over forensic audit request from Lheidli T'enneh, McLeod Lake Indian Band

Both are requesting a forensic audit claiming over the past two decades their communities have sent millions of dollars to the district to pay for the education of their students but have not received a transparent response as to how the dollars have been allocated.
SD 57 Board Chair Trent Derrick wrote this statement and sent it to

“On January 15, 2021, School District No.57 (Prince George) Board of Education received a joint letter from the Mcleod Lake Indian Band and the Lheidli T’enneh Nation requesting that a forensic audit report be provided related to all targeted dollars and annual Local Education Agreement (LEA) dollars. ....
