The spread of the COVID-19 virus in Clay County has decreased enough in the past two weeks to change the Advisory Category to ORANGE Wednesday. The county has been in the RED Advisory Category since December 30, 2020.
The Indiana State Department of Healths COVID-19 Dashboard showing the spread of the virus was in the RED category across the state reached a total of 75 out of 92 counties, with 17 in ORANGE Monday.

As of noon Monday, January 18, 2021, the Indiana State Department of Health continues to show Clay County in the RED category on the Dashboards Color Code System. The countys COVID-19 data shows a drop to 26.5% 7-Day Unique Positivity Rate among the unique people tested those not previously tested - during Jan. 5-11, 2020. The data has been increasing for about a week but now shows a slight drop, while the overall 7-Day Positivity rating of 20.9%.
A county must remain at a lower Weekly Two-Metric Score for two consecutive weeks to move down to a lower advisory level. (The ISDH COVID-19 CURRENT Data Report is updated daily at noon. However, it regularly uses data 24-48 hours old to help ensure the reports accuracy.) ....

As a COVID-19 vaccine rolls out in Indiana, the first to get it will be frontline healthcare workers.
Clay County Health Nurse Kim Hyatt said it would be a while before vaccinations are made public, with expectations that the process could begin in January.
(The current vaccination) is not for the public, said Hyatt. This is just for healthcare workers.
Hyatt said two Terre Haute hospitals received vaccine doses, with Clay County yet to be scheduled.
We are working on plans for when the vaccine arrives, said Hyatt. January is for the public; at least that is what the Indiana State Department of Health is telling us now. ....
