NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Tennessee Health Commissioner Dr. Lisa Piercey said the effort to give first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to nursing home residents and those who live in skilled nursing home facilities is pretty much complete.
Now the effort is underway in assisted living facilities.
Pharmacists from Walgreens were on hand this week to administer the Moderna COVID-19 vaccines to residents and employees of Belmont Village Senior Living. A representative said 96% of residents and 60% of employees were vaccinated.
They say implementing an education campaign within the facility early on was important to the event s success. We started talking about this really early, as soon as we knew the vaccine was approved. We went through a lot of education, we ve had a lot of small group kind of town hall meetings, Zoom meetings, sai ....

Following the second weekend of COVID vaccinations for Davidson County residents 75 and older, one health official says while the roll out has been smooth thus far, supply isn t meeting the demand.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — So far, nearly 2,500 Davidson County seniors 75 and older have received COVID-19 vaccines.
“We’re shooting for 600 a day,” said Interim Director of Health at Metro Public Health Department, Dr. Gill Wright.
In the state, 18.65% of those 71-80 years old have been vaccinated. For those 81 and older, it s 13.13%.
Still many vulnerable people in long-term care facilities are waiting on vaccines. As of Sunday, 18,000 residents have been vaccinated. This comes as the state announced a total of 2,200 resident deaths in nursing homes out of just over 17,000 cases- that s a death rate of almost 13%. ....
