FIAS President Shestakov points to 2020's pleasant surprises in year-end message

International Sambo Federation (FIAS) President Vasily Shestakov has said that 2021, while difficult, was not in vain for us , pointing to innovations such as the Online Sambo Cup and the staging of the World Championships in Novi Sad.
The Serbian city stepped in when Turkmenistan pulled out of hosting the event due to the coronavirus pandemic, and 35 countries were represented at the tournament.
Reflecting on the difficulties faced by the global health crisis in a new year message, Shestakov recognised that sambo was not alone in facing them.
Quarantine, self-isolation, closed borders - unfortunately, this is our new reality, the FIAS President said. ....

Basketball-oriented TIBU Maroc has won the Innovative Action of the Year category at the 2020 Peace and Sport Awards.
TIBU Maroc was in the running for the accolade along with the International Sambo Federation, for its Online Sambo Cup, and FLAG21, a Swiss-based organisation that focuses on integrating migrants to their new communities through sport.
The Moroccan non-government organisation s Empowerment through Sport programme works with underprivileged young people to empower them through sports programmes.
TIBU Maroc s activities started with an inter-university basketball tournament, and 10 years later it is considered Morocco s leading organisation ....
