Mel Kiper Jr. shares evaluations of Penei Sewell, 5 Oregon Ducks defensive backs in 2021 NFL draft Updated Mar 01, 2021; EUGENE Mel Kiper Jr. sees several Oregon players being selected in this year’s NFL draft, headlined of course by offensive tackle Penei Sewell. The ESPN draft analyst shared his early evaluations of six former Ducks, including Sewell, who he sees going in the top five. “I think it’s ideal at Cincinnati at 5,” Kiper said. “I think you get a left tackle. People say, ‘Well, he was a little overrated,’ I’m not buying that. He didn’t play this year. Had he built on what he did in 2019, he would have been regarded as the next (Tony) Boselli, (Jonathan) Ogden or (Orlando) Pace. I get why you wouldn’t put him in that category right now because he didn’t play this year, but for Cincinnati he’s exactly what they’re looking for and I think he would be an ideal pick at that point. Oregon Ducks pro day set for April 2 Updated Feb 24, 2021; EUGENE Oregon will hold its annual pro day on April 2. The NFL announced the date for UO’s pro day, which will feature Penei Sewell, Jevon Holland, Thomas Graham Jr., Brady Breeze, Deommodore Lenoir, Nick Pickett, Hunter Kampmoyer, Austin Faoliu and Jordon Scott. Last year, Oregon’s pro day was March 12 and was the last major sporting event held in the United States for several weeks. The pre-draft process is different this offseason due to the cancellation of the NFL Combine, which would’ve been next week in Indianapolis. Players did receive Combine invites despite the event not being held this year. ....

Cornerbacks coach Rod Chance and wide receivers coach Bryan McClendon were hired last Feb. 15 and April 17, respectively, each helped recruit three players to UO’s 23-member 2021 class ranked No. 6 nationally.
