Burra Community in Ningi Local Government of Bauchi State has presented a memorandum to Nigeria’s Senate requesting the creation of Burra Local Government Area.
Presenting the memo on behalf of the community during the North-East Zonal Public Hearing conducted by the Senate Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution in Bauchi, member representing Ningi/Warji Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Abdullahi Sa’ad Abdulkadir said that the community had consistently been presenting the request to various governments since 1981. ....

BREAKING: Cholera outbreak kills 20 in Bauchi

Cholera outbreak in Bauchi State has killed no fewer than 20 people in the state, the state government has disclosed.
The Commissioner of Health in the state, Dr. Aliyu Maigoro, disclosed this at a press conference held at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Bauchi on Tuesday.
He said that nine local government areas in the state recorded a total of 322 cases within one month adding that the case fatality rate is 6.2 per cent.
He said, “The state Ministry of Health was notified of a sporadic case of gastroenteritis in Magami Community, Burra Ward of Ningi Local Government Area by the Area Health Officer in Burra District on the 11th May 2021. This followed an increase in the number of cases above normal from the community. ....

The outbreak of cholera has claimed no fewer than 20 lives in Bauchi State within the last two weeks when the first case was reported in Burra, a village in Ningi LGA.
The Commissioner of Health, Dr Aliyu Maigoro Mohammed made the confirmation while addressing Journalists on Tuesday declaring that so far, a total of 322 cases have been reported at the various health facilities across the state.
Aliyu Maigoro added that the State Ministry of Health was notified of sporadic cases of gastroenteritis in Magami community, Burra ward of Ningi Local Government Area by the Area Health Officer in Burra district on the 11th May 2021 following an increase in the number of cases above normal from the community. ....

Police nab 3 over alleged kidnap of Adamawa businessman

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested three of five suspects linked to the kidnap of two businessmen in Gombi Local Government Area of the state.
The command said on Monday that it effected the arrest during the weekend, on Saturday, February 27, and the suspects have been found to be the ones who kidnapped Ali Ahmadu and Alhaji Guruza of Antasa and Balhona villages in Gombi LGA sometime in November last year.
“The suspects were apprehended at their various hideouts in Gombi town following credible information and intense search by the Police and Pulaku Vigilantes team of Gombi Division,” the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state, DSP Suleiman Nguroje said in a statement. ....

Scores injured as articulated vehicle crushes car in Osogbo

A number of persons were reportedly injured on Monday afternoon when the car they were travelling in collided with an articulated vehicle at the LAMECO Roundabout, Service Area in Osogbo.
According to reports, the cause of the accident could not be ascertained but the articulated vehicle conveying a bulldozer crushed the car beyond recognition.
As at the time DAILY POST got to the scene of the accident, the passengers in the car who sustained various degrees of injuries had been rushed to a hospital within Osogbo.
Eyewitnesses said the accident was caused by the carelessness of both drivers as none of them wanted to give the right of way to the other. ....
