Alleged N10bn fraud: Stop the witch-hunt, PDP govs tell EFCC

The Peoples Democratic Party Governors Forum has cautioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Committee against the alleged witch-hunt of the opposition.
The forum took exception to the recent invitation of party leaders which it said was based upon a spurious petition by a disgruntled former party member.
The governors stated these in a statement titled, ‘PDP Governors Forum warns EFCC against the witch-hunt of opposition parties,’ signed by the Director-General of the forum, CID Maduabum, in Abuja, on Saturday.
It read in part, “The recent invitation of officials of the PDP by the EFCC acting on a spurious petition by a disgruntled former member of PDP raises questions on the seriousness and impartiality of the anti-graft agency to do its work. ....

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has said over N1.1 billion was forfeited to the Federal Government between January and March 2021.
The Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, stated this while briefing the Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes Committee led by Senator Suleiman Kwari while on oversight visit to the ICPC headquarters last week Thursday.

Owasanoye said N418.8m and $1.5m in domiciliary accounts were forfeited to the Federal Government in the first quarter of this year.
He said the anti-graft agency also seized five plots of land, 13 businesses, 29 buildings, One vehicle and five farms during the period under review. ....

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has revealed that over N1.1 billion and 29 buildings were forfieted to the Federal Government between January and March, 2021.
ICPC Chairman, Prof Bolaji Owasanoye, made this known weekend in Abuja when the Senate Committee on Senate Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes Committee led Senator Suleiman Kwari came on oversight visit to the National Headquarters of the agency in Abuja.
According to him, N418.8 million and $1.5 million in Domiciliary Accounts were forfieted to the Federal government between January to March 2021 while the anti-graft agency also seized five plots of land, 13 businesses, 29 buildings, one vehicle and five farms during the period under review. ....
