Memorial Regional Health: New provider added to Women's Health team

Dr. Robert Samuelson will be the newest addition to the Memorial Regional Health Women’s Health team, offering full-scope medical and surgical gynecology care. Starting June 1, he will assist patients in Craig one to two weeks per month.
His goal is to help MRH provide a high level of care close to home so women and their families don’t have to travel far for their women’s health appointments.
“I’ve always had an interest in healthcare and surgery,” Dr. Samuelson said. “I enjoy practicing in underserved areas, and I knew Craig offered a lot of healthcare options for locals but not specifically GYN care. I hope to bring my expertise to this area for patients.” ....

Moffat County Commission hears plans for proposed health services district

Moffat County is currently a “dinosaur area” when it comes to emergency medical services, and the officials at Memorial Regional Health are working to improve this situation.
Chief Financial Officer Sam Radke explained to the Moffat County Board of Commissioners this week that the need for a countywide emergency management framework was established in 2014 following recommendation from the Colorado Emergency Medical Trauma and Advisory Council.
“This was after they had reviewed the services that were being provided through the three, somewhat disjointed, services,” Radke said.
He added that over his career and working with 17 different rural hospitals, they all should have at least two things: ambulance services and a doctor’s office staffed with a nurse who can provide basic medical treatment. ....

Letter to the editor: 'A bang-up' Where the Hell's Maybell?

Congrats to Travis Sanford and the Moffat County Parks and Recreation staff and primary sponsor Memorial Regional Health for staging a bang-up thirty-fifth Where the Hell’s Maybell? ride. (Praise, too, to whomever was responsible for the favorable weather!)
Dozens of us from geezers to youngsters, from near and far, enjoyed pedaling the scenic route and the hospitality of the good people of Craig and Maybell.
The t-shirts are very handsome so props to Chaos, Inc. And the breakfast in support of Young Life was a couple notches above your typical benefit meal.
This sort of event is just what we need in these trying times. I look forward to more of the same and encourage the community to join in enjoying each one. ....

A 30-mile bike ride in search of one answer: Where the Hell's Maybell?

A 30-mile bike ride sounds like a long way, and it is, but it’s probably not as bad as you think.
So don’t let that distance, or the slightly profane name, scare you from doing the annual Where the Hell’s Maybell? bike ride. The ride itself is gentle, with one big hill and a few tiny rollers from then on, said Travis Sanford, recreation manager for Craig Parks and Recreation. Cyclists of all abilities have completed it, and casual biking families have turned it into an annual tradition.
“We get older folks, young kids, all kinds of abilities,” Sanford said. ....
