B.C.’s COVID-19 response and latest updates for Dec. 15
Dr. Bonnie Henry, B.C.’s provincial health officer, and Adrian Dix, Minister of Health, today (Dec. 15) issued the following joint statement regarding updates on the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) response in British Columbia.

Today, we are reporting 522 new cases of COVID-19, including eight epi-linked cases, for a total of 43,463 cases in British Columbia.
There are 9,860 active cases of COVID-19 in the province. There are 361 individuals currently hospitalized with COVID-19, 93 of whom are in intensive care. The remaining people are recovering at home in self-isolation.
Currently, 10,768 people are under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases and a further 31,866 people who tested positive have recovered. ....

COVID-19 in B.C.: Vaccinations begin, 21 deaths, 45 schools with exposures, and more

Today marked a milestone in the COVID-19 pandemic for British Columbia.
Vaccinations commenced today with healthcare workers being the first to receive them and the first person in the province to receive a vaccine was residential care aide Nisha Yunus in the Vancouver Coastal Health region. B.C. provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry was in attendance.
The first person in Fraser Health to be immunized was healthcare assistant Linda Latour.
Among the very first people to receive it are those who care for and support B.C. s seniors by getting immunized, they are helping to protect those most vulnerable to COVID-19 and helping us all get one step closer to ending this pandemic,” B.C. Health Minister Adrian Dix said in a news release. ....

COVID-19 cases decrease on first day for vaccines in B.C.

A drop in B.C.’s new COVID-19 cases today with 522, including 56 in the Interior Health region.
The B.C. total is the lowest in more than a month and comes after several days in the 600-700 range.
However, the COVID-related deaths remain high with another 21.
The provincial death toll is now at 668, with one of the latest victims, a woman in her 70s who had been living at McKinney Place in Oliver.
That is the seventh death in Interior Health.
There are 9,860 active cases, with 361 people in hospital and 93 in intensive care. ....
