PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) St. Charles Borromeo Seminary is picking up stakes and relocating further into the Montgomery County suburbs.
The historic Main Line school, which has been operating from its Wynnewood campus since 1871, plans to move into new facilities at Gwynedd Mercy University by the 2024-25 academic year.
Bishop Timothy Senior confirmed the Archdiocese of Philadelphia bought two buildings including a 200-plus bed dormitory and 15 acres of land for $10 million from the university to establish the new seminary.
“We have the need to build some additional student and faculty residences on the property,” Senior said. “And then also what we’re calling a student life center, which would include the dining facilities, the fitness center, the library and classrooms, and ....

An archdiocesan employee has been recognized by a local university for his commitment to those affected by poverty, homelessness and intellectual disabilities.
Kevin Barr of Catholic Social Services (CSS) recently received the “Spirit of St. Francis and Clare of Assisi Award” from Neumann University. The honor is annually bestowed on a graduate who lives out Catholic, Franciscan values by promoting human dignity, intercultural understanding, peacemaking or care for the environment. ....

The students pulled up to different lanes organized for them to do self-administered tests in their vehicles.
The tests were at no-cost to the students and they were scheduled in advance.

Dr. Andrew Newberg may be a pioneer in his field, but he also understands that, when it comes to spirituality and the brain, it’s OK to say, “I don’t know.”
As a child, Dr. Andrew Newberg peppered his father with some serious questions about the concept of reality. “But he was very good at throwing it back at me,” Newberg recalls.
So he would have to find the answers on his own. In the months between his graduation from Haverford College and heading to medical school at the University of Pennsylvania, Newberg often meditated as he walked. Then he’d simply sit and think. Some of what he experienced he can’t explain to this day. It led directly to his studies on the impact of religious and spiritual experiences on the brain. This unconventional field is known as neurotheology, and Newberg is one of its pioneers. ....
