Perpetual appoints State Street as custodian

RBC Investor and Treasury Services announced it would leave the Australian market in December, 2019, creating issues in the Australian custody market.
Rob Adams, Perpetual chief executive and managing director, said the firm looked for a provider who could offer a high calibre service who could align with their growth strategy to expand into new markets.
“State Street emerged as strong partner demonstrating deep middle office and custodial experience in both domestic and global markets,” Adams said.
“After a thorough review of a number of providers, we believe State Street is a complementary fit for Perpetual, particularly as our business becomes increasingly global in nature. ....

Perpetual hires State Street as custody service provider

Australia’s Perpetual Investment Management has hired US custodian bank State Street Corporation’s local unit to provide custodial and fund administration services.
State Street Australia will take over the custody mandate from Royal Bank of Canada, which pulled out of the Australian custody business last year. It sold the business to Citigroup Inc in March 2020.
State Street’s appointment will take effect within the first half of this year, Perpetual says in a statement on January 20.
The bank will provide core custody, middle office, administration, valuation and accounting and tax reporting services for funds offered by Perpetual, which had A$29 billion (US$22.33 billion) of total assets as of September 2020. ....
