Business jet operators as well as manufacturers like the FAA’s Data Communications (Data Comm) system, which enables controllers to send departure clearances to pilots by text instead of by radio.
The FAA has deployed the capability for text messaging to 62 airport towers and is in the process of rolling it out to 20 air route traffic control centers (ARTCC) that manage high-altitude, enroute traffic. After outfitting three “key” ARTCCs Washington, Indianapolis and Kansas City the agency suspended deployment to the enroute centers in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. ....

Embraer Delivered 71 Aircraft in Q4 2020

Embraer delivered 71 jets in Q4 2020, of which 28 were
commercial aircraft and 43 were executive jets (23 light and 20
large), a decrease of 10 aircraft when compared to Q4 2019.
The company delivered a total of 130 jets in 2020,
comprised of 44 commercial aircraft and 86 executive jets (56
light and 30 large), a decrease of almost 35% compared to 2019,
when 198 jets were delivered.
Although deliveries accelerated during the fourth
quarter of 2020 relative to the three previous quarters, they were
heavily impacted, mostly in commercial aviation, due to the
ongoing global COVID19
pandemic.
As of 31 December, the firm order backlog totaled US$
14.4 billion.
