Jonathan Roxmouth, the South African musical actor who captivated Korean theatergoers with his breathtaking portrayal of the Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera, returns to Seoul despite the pandemic to hold his first-ever solo concerts here.
Roxmouth was announced to take on the role in October 2019 and toured three cities Busan, Seoul and Daegu, delivering the tale of the masked figure living under the Paris Opera House and the innocent young soprano, Christine, who captures his heart, from December 2019 through September 2020. ....

Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra to live stream Beethoven's Symphony No. 9

The Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra (SPO) will perform Beethoven s Choral Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125 at the Lotte Concert Hall to mark the 250th anniversary of the composer s birth, Sunday. The concert will be live streamed.
The 65-minute performance subtitled 2020 Beethoven Ode to Joy, arranged by Jaakko Kuusisto, composer, conductor, and violinist, will be presented with a variety of artists ― conductor Markus Stenz, bass Park Jong-min, mezzo-soprano Lee A-kyeong, soprano Park Hye-sang, tenor Mario Bahg and the National Chorus of Korea ― and will viewable on SPO s YouTube channel, NaverTV, and Seoul City s YouTube channel for free from 5 p.m. ....

Concert pianist Kim Sun-wook’s duet recital with violinist Chung Kyung-wha in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, will take place as scheduled Dec. 20, although Kim’s other engagements for December were postponed due to the resurgence of COVID-19.
According to classical music show agency Vincero on Wednesday, three of Kim’s December performances have been rescheduled for January, after stricter social distancing measures came into force for Seoul.
Under the revised schedule, Kim’s solo recital will be held Jan. 11. He will go onstage with the KBS Symphony Orchestra the following day and make his conducting debut. His duet with violinist Chung will take place Jan. 19. All performances will be held at the Lotte Concert Hall in Jamsil, eastern Seoul. ....
