On June 22, Rep. Carol Bush, R-Tulsa, submitted a request for a study on the Landlord Tenant Act to “address needed updates” to the law. Two days later, Rep. Forrest Bennett, D-Oklahoma City, submitted his own request for an interim study on the law to “study possible reforms.” ....

A coroner’s report into the COVID-19 deaths of three migrant farm workers last year has highlighted the role crowded, inadequate housing played in spreading the deadly virus on Ontario farms, plus a jumble of overlapping jurisdictions overseeing the living and working conditions of temporary foreign workers.
Deputy chief Ontario coroner Dr. Reuven R. Jhirad is recommending a further, formal inquest into the deaths of Bonifacio Eugenio Romero, Rogelio Munoz Santos and Juan Lopez Chaparro in May and June of last year.
Fr. Peter Ciallella, who presided at a memorial Mass for Lopez Chaparro at Blessed Sacrament Church in Burford, Ont., last year, is not surprised the coroner highlighted housing. ....

Continuing its mission as the fair housing advocate for Soldiers and Families, the Fort Campbell Housing Services Office, or HSO, hosted its annual Landlord Tenant Act and Fair Housing Seminar April 21 in Clarksville.
“During the seminar we educate the local community on the fair housing laws, changes from the Ten-nessee legislative body and Uniform Residential Landlord and Tenant Act,” said Yolanda McDaniel, deputy director, Housing Division, Directorate of Public Works. “We consider all the property owners and landlords in the community to be stakeholders and partners with our HSO as we ensure quality housing for Soldiers and Families.”
For the past 12 years, the HSO has hosted the seminar to keep Tennessee and Kentucky property owners, property managers and landlords informed on the demand of current housing laws as they pertain to Soldiers and Families. ....

Landlord rights group says Pittsburgh has violated city and state laws through eviction regulation ordinance

PITTSBURGH – A landlord advocacy group has brought suit against the City of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh City Council, claiming that the City has violated its Home Rule Charter and the state constitution, in its implementation of a temporary eviction measure during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Landlord Service Bureau, Inc. of North Huntingdon filed suit in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas on March 4 versus the City and its Council.
