This milestone comes on the back of landmark amendments made in 2019 to the Mines Act 1952; the amendments made it eligible for women to work in any mine both above and below ground if they complete the required certification.

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Solongoo Bayarsaikhan, Deputy Chief at Cabinet Secretariat yesterday, January 13, gave information on the official position of the Mongolian government on the situation surrounding the Oyu Tolgoi copper and gold mine project.
In December 2019, the working group was set up to hold talks with investors of the Oyu Tolgoi project with the aim of improving Oyu Tolgoi-related agreements, including Investment Agreement, Shareholders’ Agreement and Underground Mine Development and Financing Plan in line with Mongolia’s legislations. Solongoo is a member of the Government working group.

MONTREAL, Dec. 23, 2020 /PRNewswire/ - Turquoise Hill Resources today announced that Oyu Tolgoi LLC has received, and is evaluating, a Tax Act ( tax assessment ) for approximately US$228 million cash tax from the Mongolian Tax Authority (MTA) relating to an audit on taxes imposed and paid by Oyu Tolgoi LLC between 2016 and 2018. This tax assessment is being evaluated by Oyu Tolgoi LLC and a response will be issued within the timeframe required by Mongolian Law.
As previously announced by Turquoise Hill, on January 16, 2018, Oyu Tolgoi LLC had received and was evaluating a tax assessment for approximately US$155 million from the MTA relating to an audit on taxes imposed and paid by Oyu Tolgoi LLC between 2013 and 2015.
