Surveyor General Decries Duplication of Efforts on Mapping

The Surveyor General of the Federation, Mr. Taiwo Adeniran, has described as a huge waste of resources the idea of many government agencies and parastatals engaging in one form of geo-spatial mapping of the environment or the other.
Adeniran, who featured on THISDAY’s broadcast arm, Arise Television Morning Show programme Tuesday, said that many people are not aware of what geo-spatial information is all about or what it can be used for.
He said such lack of awareness led to the decision of the organisation to partner with several government agencies in order to create the needed awareness and to also seek collaboration with other stakeholders. ....

Week in Review - The Paper of Montgomery County

As we settle in to the new year and either break or keep up with our resolutions take some time to look back at all of the news of the week. It was another busy week in Montgomery County.

THE BOARD of Commissioners have hired Mike Davis to the new position of Mapping Director. Mike was serving as the Geographic Information Coordinator for the County. Mike has worked for the County for 24 years. He started as Chief Deputy in the Surveyor’s Office where he was responsible for digitizing the legal drains in the County. He then worked in the Building Department as a building inspector and helped created the Mapping Division which was responsible for creating digital maps for properties in the County. ....
