Social-distancing trail redesign at Hocking Hills wins award

A creative approach to a challenging situation that arose due to pandemic restrictions has earned Hocking Hills State Park a national award.
The parks were awarded the National Association of State Park Directors (NASPD) Presidentâs Award for Innovation, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). The award recognized the parkâs new trail design which accommodates social distancing guidelines and safety during the COVID-19 pandemic.
âThe intricate work done at Hocking Hills this summer shows how truly dedicated our park team is,â ODNR Director Mary Mertz said in a prepared release. âI am grateful for their efforts made to keep our visitors and the delicate ecosystems of this beautiful property safe.â ....
