Election Petition: Mahama Files Closing Address

Lawyers of former President John Mahama have filed their closing addresses in the election petition as was ordered by the Supreme Court on Monday.
This means the way is cleared for the Supreme Court to decide on the Petition on March 4, 2021.
The closing addresses are the summary of all that have transpired in the course of the hearing and what each of the parties wanted as per their case before the court.
The Respondents, Electoral Commission and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo filed theirs on February 17, 2021.

Persons present at the hearing of the ongoing Election Petition at the Supreme Court on Monday were cracked up with laughter after one of the panel Judges, Justice Samuel Marful-Sau advised counsel for the 2nd Respondent, Akoto Ampaw, to stop using his wig because it has lost its identity.
Justice Marful-Sau immediately after Lawyer Akoto Ampaw had just finished his submission in opposition to a motion by the petitioner to reopen his case gave his advice.
“Mr. Akoto Ampaw, I think you have to change your wig, it has lost its identity as a wig,” the Judge said throwing the entire courtroom into laughter. ....

The Supreme Court on Tuesday, February 2 asked Dr Michael Kpessa Whyte to wear a suit whenever he appears before it.
According to Chief Justice Kwasi Anin Yeboah that had been the norm whenever people appeared before the Supreme Court and that would not take anything away from him.
The Chief Justice said, being a lecturer was a prestigious profession.
Justice Samuel Marful-Sau added that the Supreme Court was raising the status of lecturers.
But as the court was addressing, Dr Whyte who was dressed in well ironed black shirt and trousers placed one of his hands in his pocket and was using the other hand to hold on to his files. ....
