A Court of Queen’s Bench Justice has approved the sale of the 13,000-square-foot Nygard store at Broadway and Sherbrook in Winnipeg.

The Nygard property at the corner of Broadway and Sherbrook Street in Winnipeg has sold, nine months after it was listed for sale.
The last property associated with the once-ubiquitous Nygard fashion brand has been sold in Winnipeg.
On Thursday, Manitoba Court of Queen s Bench Justice James Edmond approved the sale of a 22,000-square-foot property at the corner of Broadway and Sherbrook Street belonging to Nygard Properties Ltd..
Nine Nygard companies have been under court-appointed receivership since March 18, 2020. They owed nearly $50 million to approximately 350 creditors around the world, including 40 Manitobans, according to the receiver s first report to the court. ....

Flooring company offers to buy last Nygard retail store up for sale in Winnipeg

The Nygard Group of companies owed $50 million to creditors, including nearly $30 million to American lender White Oak Commercial Finance, when it was placed under receivership in March by Manitoba Court of Queen s Bench Justice James Edmond.
Last November, Edmond approved the sale of 1771 Inkster Blvd. and set Jan. 18, 2021, as the closing date. The Nygard Group tried to block the sale and regain control of the two remaining properties.
They argued White Oak had been paid in full and asked the judge to end the receivership. The case ended up in the Manitoba Court of Appeal which sided with the receiver and approved the Inkster sale. It s now set to close Feb. 8. If approved, the Broadway sale would close Feb, 15. ....

Manitoba judge lifts stay, allows receiver company to sell Nygard property on Inkster Boulevard
As Peter Nygard, 79, sits in jail in Winnipeg on charges related to allegations of sex trafficking, racketeering and other related crimes, the Court of Appeal of Manitoba has ruled that the court-appointed receiver of nine Nygard companies can sell one of its major properties in Winnipeg.
