ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) on Tuesday rejected plea of Islamabad Bar and ordered demolition of illegally constructed chambers of lawyers in Islamabad.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed upheld verdict of Islamabad High Court (IHC) regarding demolition of the chambers and ordered to vacate the football ground.
During the hearing, Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed remarked that on what basis the court should stop the demolition. “Lawyers have no claim on the football ground. Those who want to practice [law] should have their offices built somewhere else,” he remarked. ....

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Supreme Court of Pakistan has on Friday stopped the administration from demolishing lawyers’ chambers in Islamabad Kutchery and issued notices to the attorney general and the Islamabad advocate general to not take any action till the next hearing.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed heard the appeal against demolition of the illegal chambers of lawyers. The CJP stressed that the court will not take its decision under any pressure. He also reprimanded the lawyers over their misbehavior. ....

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has held that granting of bail is a precious right guaranteed under the Constitution and recalling this concession would mean curtailing the liberty of an accused.
“Once the concession of bail is granted by a court of competent jurisdiction then very strong and exceptional grounds will be required to hamper the concession extended to the accused otherwise clothed with free life,” observed Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi in a recent judgement.
Justice Naqvi was a member of a three-judge bench also consisting of Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel. The bench had taken up an appeal moved by Sharif Khan against the Peshawar High Court’s (PHC) Oct 1 order.
