Man in Wheelchair Struck By Two Vehicles in Fountain Valley, Killed

A man in a wheelchair was struck by two vehicles and killed in Fountain Valley, authorities said today.
The crash occurred at about 2:35 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Euclid Street and Warner Avenue, according to Lt. Kham Vang of the Fountain Valley Police Department. The drivers of both vehicles stayed at the scene and cooperated with police, Vang said.
A blue 2021 Chrysler Pacifica was going north on Euclid when it struck the wheelchair, which was traveling westbound on Warner across Euclid, police said. The wheelchair was then struck by a white 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was also going north on Euclid. ....

SANTA ANA (CNS) - A convicted flasher pleaded guilty today and was immediately sentenced to 16 months in prison for exposing himself to a girl at Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley.
Elihu Jonathan Rodriguez, 32, of Santa Ana, pleaded guilty to a felony count of indecent exposure with a prior conviction. A misdemeanor count of child annoyance was dismissed, according to court records.
Rodriguez, who has been in custody since Aug. 13, exposed himself to the victim, whose name and age were not released, about 5:25 p.m. that day on the southwest corner of the park at Euclid Street and Edinger Avenue, said Fountain Valley Police Department Sgt. Donald Farmer. ....

An Irvine man was arrested on weapons violations earlier this month after being on the run from a March incident, according to a news release issued Thursday by the Fountain Valley Police Department.
David Kalani Gardner, 43, was taken into custody May 4 after police detectives received a tip that he was hiding out in a Santa Ana Motel 6.
A stolen rifle, a loaded handgun, body armor, a pair of rifle scopes and methamphetamine were found during a search of Gardner’s motel room, police said. ....

Fountain Valley police to resume vacation home check program

The Fountain Valley Police Department will resume its vacation home check program on Monday, April 19.
Retired senior volunteers have been used by the department to provide the year-round service. Joanne Minney, a community service officer assigned to the crime prevention team, said the service was disrupted for reasons connected to the coronavirus pandemic.
“It’s a year-round service that we offer, but due to the pandemic, we had to suspend our retired senior volunteer program . they’re the ones that check, so the service had to be discontinued, as well, for the duration until things opened up a little bit,” Minney said. ....
