Fountain Hills Day to be held Saturday


The first annual Fountain Hills Day, presented by the Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce, is set for this Saturday, May 15, in the Fountain Hills Theater parking lot.
Fountain Hills Day is a community celebration bringing together local businesses, clubs and organizations to showcase what Fountain Hills has to offer, according to organizers. Chamber members are going to be setting up booths to share what they offer, their services and to connect with other community members. In addition to the business booths, there will also be children’s activities hosted by the Dark Sky Committee, River of Time Museum, Sipps Eatery and more. Food options will be available for purchase as well. Participating food vendors include Scoop & Joy Lounge, Sipps Eatery, EuroPizza and Big Acai. ....

MCSO provides Town Council with general update


As concerns about the pandemic begin to wane, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is getting ready to reassert its public outreach programs, according to MCSO Capt. Larry Kratzer, commander for the Sheriff’s District 7 based in Fountain Hills.
Kratzer was addressing the Town Council with his monthly update on April 20 when he made the comments.
He cited the annual Drug Take Back Day, which was held this past weekend, but had been postponed due to coronavirus concerns.
Deputies were on hand outside Town Hall Saturday receiving unused prescription drugs being dropped off by residents. The drugs are turned over to DEA for disposal. ....

Eleanor Cisak


Eleanor Cisak, a resident of Fountain Hills, passed away on Jan. 31, 2021. Eleanor lived at Fountain View Village in independent living.
She was born in Detroit, Mich., and graduated from Northeastern High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Edward Cisak, in 1947.
Eleanor worked for the city of Livonia, Mich., and after retiring they moved to Fountain Hills. She was active at church with the Daughters of Isabella and was a member of the Women’s Club.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years. Eleanor has three children, Mark, Cindy (George) DeMeulenaere, and Vicky (Tom) Cross. She has 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. ....

Pandemic life: Community looks at the past, present and future


A year ago, when we were learning about COVID-19, figuring out how best to deal with the pandemic and continue with our lives, things rapidly changed.
The Times queried a number of residents asking what they thought was going to happen after the pandemic was over. Most of us, myself included, were of the opinion that things would be “normal” again soon. Things are looking a little more pre-2020 now, but there are still restrictions, warnings, pleas and hope from medical experts, politicians and just folks weighing in on the future.
We followed up a few weeks ago, emailing the same list of people we contacted a year ago. Not all participants responded, but we had a good number of residents who were happy to share their thoughts. ....
