Cache Water District, Logan, N. Logan and Hyde Park participating in evaluation on Logan River watershed

The proposal for federal Natural Resources Conservation Service funding was submitted by the Cache Water District.
One option would pipe and pressurize canals â in Logan, North Logan and Hyde Park â serviced by Crockett Avenue Irrigation and Distribution, Inc, which could leave the existing open canals, like those on the Island in Logan, to help mitigate flood risks.

âOver the last decade or two, the three cities involved and the canal companies have done a number of different studies,â said Nathan Daugs, the manager of the water district, in a virtual presentation on the Logan River Watershed to the public. âThe cities have been looking at how to solve some of their flood-control issues for decades, and that just continues to get worse and worse.â ....

The 3.5-mile hike to the top of Pinnacle Rock is a heart-pumping one, the old logging roads that now serve as hiking trails climbing 2,200 feet before leaving the hiker breathless before a sweeping aerial view of the Town of Sylva, cradled on all sides by forested mountain slopes.
The view is the flagship offering of Pinnacle Park, whose core area of 1,088 acres once served as Sylva’s watershed and now offers a worthy hiking challenge within minutes of town. But few people are aware that only half of the rocky outcropping known as Pinnacle Rock is actually part of town property, or that the pristine acreage below that rock is private land that could be developed at any moment. ....

After Sunday's crash shut down Big Cottonwood Canyon for hours, police issue new policy on road closures

Drivers on State Route 190 in Big Cottonwood Canyon were trapped in their cars for hours on Sunday afternoon after a crash shut down traffic in both directions. After getting complaints about the road shutdown, the Unified Police Department announced Tuesday that in the future, traffic won’t be stopped to remove vehicles after a crash unless gasoline or oil is leaking into the watershed. ....
