Pamplin Media Group - Saying goodbye to one leader, welcoming a new one

Saying goodbye to one leader, welcoming a new one May 05 2021 As we came to grips with the fact that Dr. de la Cruz would not be leading us beyond this school year, we thought seriously about the needs of our district. From the moment that our Lake Oswego School Board offered Dr. Lora de la Cruz the position of Superintendent in December 2018, she has shown exceptional leadership, integrating seamlessly into the community and quickly becoming respected and admired by many. She has consistently led with courage, empathy and grace through an unimaginable set of circumstances. To say that we are sad to see her leaving sooner than expected is an understatement; however, it is with unwavering support for her personally that we have accepted her resignation, effective June 30.

As expected, the board did vote to accept the resignation, which de la Cruz announced late last week. She will remain in her position until the end of June, at which point she will be replaced permanently by current Assistant Superintendent Jennifer Schiele.
