In Wisconsin, June Dairy Month is certainly something to celebrate. Wisconsin’s economic future and the long-term vitality of the state’s dairy industry are intricately linked. Governor Tony Evers has made continued investment in our dairy industry a priority through his biennial budget proposals and a call for a legislative Special Session in 2020 to support dairy processing and increase dairy exports. He has also encouraged the preservation of our rural communities through efforts like the Blue Ribbon Commission on Rural Prosperity. The Governor recognizes the importance of dairy to Wisconsin’s heritage and economic well-being. I am proud of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection s (DATCP) work to serve as a resource to this critical industry as it looks to the future. ....

Tony Evers, together with the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), today announced the WEDC is assisting Eau Claire County in launching a pilot program to test SpaceX’s Starlink, a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites that can provide high-speed internet in rural areas where broadband is limited or not available. The announcement comes as Gov. Evers continues to underscore the importance of expanding access to reliable, high-speed internet as part of declaring 2021 the Year of Broadband Access.The pilot project, which will provide high-speed internet to 50 rural homes and businesses, is being supported by a $27,500 Capacity Building Grant from WEDC, as well as funding from a group of healthcare providers including Marshfield Clinic, Mayo Clinic and Hospital Sisters Health System. Gov. Tony Evers in his virtual annual State of the State Address called on lawmakers to come in and take up legislation to address the state s sluggish unemployment system.
Gov. Tony Evers will include more than $43 million in the 2021-23 budget to support agriculture and farm families in Wisconsin.
His plan, announced Friday, outlines a number of steps to support farmers, expand market opportunities, connect local producers to food banks and pantries and other measures.

Tony Evers today announced his 2021-23 biennial budget proposal will include a more than $43 million investment in Wisconsin’s agriculture economy and farm families aimed at expanding market opportunities, supporting new and innovative farming practices, strengthening the agricultural workforce, connecting local producers to foodbanks and pantries, and supporting farmer mental health and wellbeing.
