LUDHIANA: Punjab Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu today laid the foundation stone of a new senior citizen home that is coming up on 700 square yards of land and with a cost of Rs 50 lakh in D block of Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar area, adjoining the newly developed Leisure Valley.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashu said, “This ultra modern senior citizen home will have state of the art facilities for the elderly people. Out of the total 700 square yards of land, 500 square yards will dedicated to a library, hall, kitchen, rooms and toilets, while the remaining area will have lawns and outdoor seating arrangement.” ....

Wheat Procurement News: Over 125 Lakh Metric Tonne Wheat Procured In Punjab So Far In Ongoing Rabi Marketing Season


The RBI had extended the CCL of Rs 2,953.46 crore till the end of May.
Over 125 lakh metric tonne wheat has been procured in Punjab so far in the ongoing rabi marketing season. An amount of Rs 21,472 crore has been paid to the farmers so far, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said on Friday. “I am happy to share that despite the challenge of #COVID-19, we have procured more than 125 Lakh MT wheat till date and paid Rs 21,472 crore to our farmers,” Singh said in a tweet.
He further said, “Our procurement agencies are working hard to ensure timely lifting and payment.” ....

Rabi marketing season: Over 125 lakh MT wheat procured in Punjab so far


Over 125 lakh metric tonne wheat has been procured in Punjab so far in the ongoing rabi marketing season.
An amount of Rs 21,472 crore has been paid to the farmers so far, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said on Friday.
I am happy to share that despite the challenge of #COVID-19, we have procured more than 125 Lakh MT wheat till date and paid Rs 21,472 crore to our farmers, Singh said in a tweet.
He further said, Our procurement agencies are working hard to ensure timely lifting and payment.
A few days ago, Punjab Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu had said the state government is expecting a total arrival of 130 lakh tonne of crop. ....

Chandigarh, April 10 : Wheat procurement kicked off in Punjab on Saturday with the Arhtiyas calling off their proposed strike after Chief Minister Amarinder Singh ordered various steps to ensure their continued involvement in the process and immediate release of their pending payments of Rs 131 crore without waiting for dues to come from the FCI.
On the Chief Minister s directives, the state Food Department has amended the procurement software so that the Arhtiyas or commission agents will continue to be involved in the process of release of payments to the farmers, albeit in a modified manner, while farmers get their payments in their bank accounts within 48 hours, as mandated by the state government. ....

Wheat procurement began in Punjab on Saturday, April 10, with commission agents (Arhtiyas) calling off their proposed strike following Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s orders for release of their payments without waiting for Food Corporation of India (FCI) to clear dues.
