Senior citizens home planned for city at cost of Rs 50 lakh | Ludhiana News

LUDHIANA: Punjab Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu today laid the foundation stone of a new senior citizen home that is coming up on 700 square yards of land and with a cost of Rs 50 lakh in D block of Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar area, adjoining the newly developed Leisure Valley.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashu said, “This ultra modern senior citizen home will have state of the art facilities for the elderly people. Out of the total 700 square yards of land, 500 square yards will dedicated to a library, hall, kitchen, rooms and toilets, while the remaining area will have lawns and outdoor seating arrangement.” ....

“There is a huge gathering already at Delhi’s borders, but we will find a way. If we don’t get space, we will stop wherever we can. Besides, we already have a stage at Kundli. We will replace those already there, who will return home,” said Satnam Singh Pannu, president, KMSC.
“The convoy has protesters from Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Taran Taran, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Ferozepur and Moga. Coordinating with each other, they gathered at Doraha in Ludhiana on National Highway 1 at about 5 pm. They will move ahead in smaller groups so that the highway doesn’t get congested,” said Pannu, who is from Piddi village in Gurdaspur. ....

Intensifying their protest against the Centre’s new agriculture laws, farmers took over some toll plazas in Haryana on Saturday, not allowing authorities to collect fees from commuters, PTI reported.
More than 100 farmers led by Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leaders Malkit Singh and Manish Chaudhry gathered at a toll plaza on the Ambala-Hisar highway, around 15 km from Ambala city. Toll plaza employees allowed vehicles to pass through without paying any charge, amid deployment of large number of police personnel. ....
