PLUS: All R&R facilities on highways open during festive period

PETALING JAYA: Facilities at the rest and service areas (R&R) along PLUS Malaysia Berhad highways will remain open during the Hari Raya Aidifitri festive period.
“From May 13 to June 7, food and drinks shops, convenience stores and other shops at the R&R will operate from 6am to 10pm daily subject to conditions by the local authorities.
“However, only takeaways are allowed for food and drinks during this period, ” PLUS chief operations officer Zakaria Ahmad Zabidi said in a statement on Wednesday (May 12).
Zakaria said contactless purchase of takeaways from 21 of the shops at R&R areas could be done via pre-orders through the PLUS app at https://orderdisini.plus.com.my/. ....

A six-week detour caused by major roadworks on two state highways is expected to cause further delays, but residents say the disruptions are inconvenient but necessary.
Construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of
State Highways 5 and 36 in Ngongotahā began in September last year and has caused congestion on the way in and out of Rotorua.
Commuters told Rotorua Daily Post in March getting to school and work in the mornings was like playing a game of Russian roulette. ....

Toll hikes delayed to next year

PETALING JAYA: Toll hikes for major highways have been postponed to 2022 to ease the burden of the people due to the rising cost of living, says Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
Fadillah said delaying the toll hikes, which were supposed to take effect on Jan 1 this year, will cost the government RM2.25bil.
He noted the estimated compensation for the increase of toll rates for Kesas Highway, South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE) and Lebuhraya Pantai Timur 2 (LPT2) will only cost the government RM160.1mil.
However, he said the continuation of the postponement of toll rates involving 21 highways and one toll plaza will cost the government RM2.093bil. ....
