Lisa Andrik-Oland alleged in court documents that Dennis Oland assaulted, terrified and tried to control her before and after he was found not guilty of murdering his father, a prominent Saint John businessman.

When police showed up at their door at midnight, it marked a terrible end to a lousy day. The married couple had started fighting that morning, over their daughter’s birthday party, and by evening, a mundane argument over who would cook dinner exploded.
According to arrest records, the wife said her husband followed her into the bedroom and “grabbed her with one hand around her neck and began choking her.’’ He tells a different story: He only grabbed his childhood sweetheart by the wrists. Theirs was simply a verbal altercation, he said. ....

The house at 58 Gondola Point Rd. was put up for sale after Dennis Oland and his estranged wife, Lisa Andrik-Oland, recently reached a settlement in a family court dispute.
Last summer, Andrik-Oland launched legal action under the Marital Property Act and Family Services Act.
She was seeking an interim order to prevent Oland from selling the family home which featured prominently in the Crown s alleged motive at his murder trials in the 2011 bludgeoning death of his father to preserve her marital interest in the home and three adjacent properties, pending a final determination in the matter. ....

A judge has decided the media can publish details of intimate partner violence allegations against Dennis Oland.
In her decision released Thursday, Chief Justice of Court of Queen s Bench Tracey DeWare said the media can publish a transcript of a complaint made by Lisa Andrik-Oland, but only after 14 days have passed. The delay is to give lawyers a chance to appeal the decision. ....
