The unenlightened propaganda piece disguised as a ‘press statement,’ which was published on Thursday, April 8th, by one Prof. Ishaq Akintola, under the one-man operation group known as MURIC, is factually and constitutionally incorrect.
This is because Prof Ishaq Akintola’s statement intentionally attempts to re-write history by falsely suggesting that the Saraki-led 8th Senate “rejected the President’s request for $1billion for the purchase of arms.” However, the truth is that the 8th Senate never rejected any fund request for security but only insisted that the due process provided by the Constitution of the Federal Republic should be adhered to even by the Executive branch ....

Rivers: Kidnappers yet to free APC chairman, Hyacinth Nwiye

Rivers All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker Committee Chairman in Khana Local Government, Hyacinth Nwiye, is still in captivity.
The state chapter of the party, in a statement, confirmed that the kidnappers were yet to release Nwiye who was snatched on Sunday.
The spokesman, Ogbonna Nwuke, noted that the circumstances surrounding the incident proved Nigeria faces a big security challenge.
“We have been briefed that he was taken into captivity at a time people were celebrating the resurrection of our Lord, the Son of God.”
Nwuke said the act was perpetrated due to the inability of the Rivers State Government to “guarantee protection at the grassroots”. ....

Blaming 8th Senate for insecurity under Buhari is propaganda - Saraki to MURIC

Bukola Saraki, President of the 8th Senate, has condemned the “unenlightened propaganda” by Prof. Ishaq Akintola, Director of the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC).
A statement by Saraki’s media aide, Oluwole Onemola had recalled an accusation against Saraki by MURIC, alleging that the 8th Senate worked against Buhari on insecurity.
MURIC had claimed the 8th Senate rejected the President’s request for $1 billion for the purchase of arms.
However, Saraki condemning MURIC’s claims explained that the 8th Senate never rejected any funding request for security but had insisted that due process provided by the constitution be adhered to, even by the executive. ....
