Norwalk Republicans, battered badly in the last three municipal elections, are energetically retooling their efforts ahead of an uncertain attempt to unseat Democratic Mayor Harry Rilling and regain a voice in City government. One major change was involuntary – Carl Dickens has stepped down from the Republican Town Committee leadership role due to health concerns and former State Rep. Fred Wilms is now acting Chairman. Changes to the bylaws were proactive and intentional, with former Board of Education Chairman Mike Lyons drafting the revisions, including a lengthy statement of principles, before moving to South Carolina recently. Louise Esposito, wife of the late former longtime Norwalk Mayor Frank Esposito, died Dec. 23 at age 89. “She was a person of great commitment and dedication to Norwalk and Mayor Esposito. She was a mentor for many years helping Norwalk students. She also helped start the first Mayor’s Ball. A lovely lady, who always enjoyed being with and around people,” former Mayor Richard Moccia said in an email. Esposito was born in Westport, graduated from Staples High School in 1949 and attended Merrill’s Business College, her obituarystates. Her community involvement included memberships in the Norwalk Women’s Club, New Horizons Club at St. Matthew Church and St. Ann’s Club, and, as a member of the Norwalk Concert Hall Committee she helped create the Mary McCarthy Room. ....
