Tax sale moved back, again
The tax sale, delayed due to COVID-19, is scheduled for Aug. 16, Tax Collector Lisa Biagiarelli has told Common Council members last week. She had planned it for July but feels “we need more time” because the grace period on property tax bills is keeping her staff busy.
Taxpayers have until April 1 to pay their taxes.
“We have to wait really until after April 1 to do a lot of things that we normally would already be doing right now,” she said. ....

NORWALK, Conn. A mass vaccination effort for Norwalk teachers, educators, and childcare professionals took a giant leap forward Wednesday with a closed vaccination clinic for Norwalk Public Schools staff.
“We’re very excited to be here,” Norwalk Superintendent of Schools Alexandra Estrella said at a Wednesday press event marking the vaccination drive at Brien McMahon High School, where comments touched on the reluctance many people feel toward getting vaccinated.
“I think we should do some ‘hip hip hoorays’ or something,” Norwalk Association of School Administrators (NASA) President Lynne Moore said. ....

Norwalk photos: Sidewalks blocked by snow

It must have been an oversight that this City park adjacent to the Norwalk Housing Authority’s Meadow Gardens housing project was left unplowed, Norwalk Communications Manager Josh Morgan said Thursday. “Staff will be heading out to make sure it is fully cleared.”
NORWALK, Conn. A Norwalk ordinance requires property owners to clear their sidewalks of snow but as many pedestrians know, it’s not necessarily happening.
Here’s a set of photos of sidewalks left impassable after the Feb. 7-8 storm. According to Norwalk Communications Manager Josh Morgan, the ordinance’s enforcement was stepped up under the recent reorganization of top City administrative positions “to have a specific focus on neighborhoods.” ....

NORWALK, Conn. The Norwalk Health Department has vaccinated more than 2,700 Norwalk citizens against COVID-19, and none have had an adverse reaction, Norwalk Communications Manager Josh Morgan said Tuesday.
Mayor Harry Rilling became one of those citizens Tuesday, getting vaccinated the same day as Gov. Ned Lamont staged his own inoculation. While Lamont’s event was timed to convey Lamont’s confidence in the vaccine yet a willingness to wait his turn, Rilling, 73, said he became eligible last week when the State expanded phase 1b of its vaccination program to include individuals between the ages of 65 and 74. ....
