On 27 April 2021, the Council of Europe participated as a leading speaker in the on-line conference, “Supporting the implementation of the Istanbul Convention in Romania” held in support of a project focused on combating violence against women under the EEA/Norway GrantsRomania Justice programme. The conference featured addresses by Luminița Popescu, the State Secretary of the National Agency for Equal Opportunities for Women and Men (ANES), as well as Alina Pop, the State Secretary of the Romanian Labour and Social Protection Ministry. Lene Nilsen from the Norwegian Ministry of Justice and Public Security commended ANES for their key role in the SYNERGY Network against Gender based and Domestic Violence. ....

Rolls-Royce strikes deal to power electric vertical takeoff craft


Around 150 Rolls engineers are working with Bristol-based Vertical, which has already flown prototypes
Rolls-Royce has agreed a deal with Vertical Aerospace to provide it with electric power systems for a vertical takeoff and landing aircraft.
Vertical’s Urban Air Mobility (UAM) aircraft hopes to break into the new market for emissions-free small aircraft, which could revolutionise short-range travel. 
A Rolls electrical power system will be integrated into Vertical’s piloted electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicle, which will carry up to four passengers for 120 miles at cruise speeds of over 200mph. It is on course to gain certification for flight by 2024. ....
